Connect2First increases monthly drop count by 400%, connecting rural Arkansas faster
Connect2First, a wholly owned subsidiary of First Electric Cooperative Corporation (FECC), is on a mission to increase the quality of life of the rural Arkansas communities it serves.
Connect2First started deploying a fiber backbone in late 2021 to support connectivity to all its substations and has since successfully delivered 5,050 miles of fiber and connected 25,000 rural households in just 32 months.
The project was forecast to take eight years, but the current schedule will wrap up network build activity in just four years.

The Solution
As customers sign up with Connect2First, a drop task is automatically triggered in Render and issued to contractors and as this work is completed, the as-built data and photos are updated in the Arkansas cooperative's fiber management platform.
We are going at a really, really fast pace. I think the project originally called for eight years. We're now at 50% completion after just two years of construction.
The Results
The team initially aimed for 400 drops per month and has grown to more than 1200, tripling the initial goal with significantly less effort.
Customers are experiencing a 5-7 day turnaround from customer sign-up to install, an excellent customer experience and outcome for their unserved communities.
With Render, Connect2First is connecting rural and unserved customers in record time:
increase in monthly drop count, 300 > 1200
turnaround from sign-up to install
With Render, it's been a methodical build. The software has allowed us to be organized, move through construction quickly and efficiently, then turn it over to sales and immediately start turning our customers up.

“With Render, productivity is off the charts, data integrity is high, and construction costs are down, all without ever touching a piece of paper. Now I can’t imagine trying to implement a large-scale utilities construction project without it.”
